The READING Program, initiated and organized by Radio Romania since 1994, is a complex cultural program whose main objectives are the promotion and support of the written culture in Romania through exhibition-type events and projects.
The program started in November 1994, with the first edition of GAUDEAMUS International Book & Education Fair, hosted by the “Mihail Jora” Radio Auditorium Foyer and has been permanently extended and diversified. At present, the READING Program holds a portfolio of 73 book exhibition events and is one of the few cultural projects in Romania to be permanently growing in the last 20 years.

Through its scope, number of participants and visitors as well as through the impact of each of its events, the “READING” Program has turned Radio Romania into a leader on the exhibition events market dedicated to books and education.

The main components of the program are:

GAUDEAMUS International Book & Education Fair, organized annually in November, arrived at its 20th edition in 2013, the most important and long-lasting book event in Romania;

GAUDEAMUS Caravan – a series of book exhibition events organized since 2000 in several Romanian cities reputed to have a strong cultural and university tradition: Craiova, Cluj-Napoca, Timișoara and Constanța-Mamaia. The fairs organized within the GAUDEAMUS Caravan enjoy the support of the local radio stations of Radio Romania;

GAUDEAMUS School Textbooks Fair - 11th edition in 2013 - is one of the very few book fairs in the country specialized in the educational field, providing an almost exhaustive range of school textbooks and auxiliaries certified by the Ministry of Education  in Romania;

Related projects – developed during the year, having as top events the GAUDEAMUS Book Fairs: “Books Are Coming Home” National Campaign of Book Donations, “Mircea Nedelciu” National Reading Contest, A-Level Guests: The Romanian Olympic Students.
