Organized by Radio Romania, GAUDEAMUS IBEF is a complex cultural
event, specialized in book exhibition, with a unique concept in
the field of similar profile events, being the only book fair in
the world to be initiated and organized by a public radio station.
The dialogue between the book and the radio lasts for 18 years now,
in an original approach by which the Fair has been constantly growing
and was enriched, to become an emblematic event for the Romanian
book market.
The Fair is held every year in the Central Pavilion of Romexpo Exhibition
Centre and gathers in an exhibiting area of 14.000 sq m, over 400
Romanian and foreign publishers, book distributors, cultural and
educational institutions etc. Each year, during the entire duration
of the Fair, a record of sales is reported, the event having a strong
impact on the book market. During the last three editions, the Fair
was visited by over 100.000 persons and the number of cultural events
was more than 450 per edition.
The Top Cultural and Editorial Event of the Year
In the autumn of every year, GAUDEAMUS Book & Education
Fair is at the focus of the editorial market in Romania and becomes
the center of the cultural life, offering the excellent meeting
framework between a complex and diversified editorial offer and
its main beneficiary – the book-loving public. The Fair is
opened to the following categories of exhibitors: Romanian and foreign
publishing companies, printing houses, educational institutions,
mass-media companies, agencies of book distribution, multimedia
companies, literary agencies, NGOs with a cultural and educational
profile, professional associations etc.
GAUDEAMUS – a Space for Inter-cultural Dialogue
Being a dynamic space of inter-cultural dialogue, the Fair
opens its gates each year to exhibitors and visitors from abroad,
facilitating the contacts between the foreign cultural personalities
present at the Fair and the public, fostering also the exchanges
among the professionals in the book market: authors, publishers,
translators, book illustrators, cultural personalities etc.
